Ants are often regarded as ‘nuisance’ pests in and around buildings. Small mounds resulting from their excavations may be considered unsightly along garden paths, on balconies and around skirting boards and architrave bases. They may also pose a health threat and in their digestive tract can in known instances carry disease organisms causing dysentery and a variety of pathogenic bacteria including Salmonella.
Ants typically trail around buildings and some species can form their nests 50 metres away from the property.
There is an art to treating the different species Ants in our area. To treat them effectively our pest technicians need be able to identify the species of ant and be aware of their feeding and nesting habits.
